BRCC Participates in Komen Race

The 2nd annual race for the “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” in the greater Roanoke, VA area was held on April 9 at Greenhill Park.
Physicians and Staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care turned out to participate in this worthwhile fundraiser which exists to “to save lives, empower people, and ensure quality care” for those diagnosed with breast cancer along with their friends and family.
Dr Suzan Merten of Blue Ridge Cancer Care was instrumental in helping to get others signed up and ready to race. In the end, the Greater Roanoke Valley Race raised more than $310,000 for a cure. Dr. Merten stated: "We were all very pleased with the turnout and the money raised. We would like to see participation and fundraising grow as we move this worthwhile cause forward."
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since inception in 1982. This group is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors.
