Blue Ridge Cancer Care moves to permanent location in Marion, Virginia

Gives Smyth County residents access to state-of-the-art cancer care in a convenient, comfortable setting

  

Marion, Va. (March. 6, 2013)Blue Ridge Cancer Care, an18-physician privately-owned practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders and an affiliate of The US Oncology Network, recently moved to its permanent facility in Marion, Virginia.   The practice initially opened in Smyth County in September of 2011 after realizing a need in the community.  “Patients were travelling long distances to get the quality care they needed,” said Jerry Goldschmidt, M.D. “By coming to them, opening a beautiful office with a comfortable setting for treatment, we hoped to improve the care experience for Smyth County patients.”

 

In order to meet the needs of patients, Blue Ridge Cancer Care began construction on the new state-of-the-art facility in 2012.  “As physicians of an independently owned practice that is part of a nationwide network of more than 1,000 top quality cancer care physicians, we are able to provide patients with the latest treatments as well as access to a broad spectrum of clinical trials. We have been caring for patients in southwest Virginia for more than 30 years. Drs. Goldschmidt and Rotche also practice in Christiansburg and Wytheville, Va.Through Blue Ridge Cancer Care, they provide comprehensive and cutting-edge services including medical oncology, hematology, genetic risk assessment and clinical research. Throughout the years, Blue Ridge Cancer Care has developed a model for care that maximizes patient and family convenience, providing a strong emphasis on ensuring patients and caregivers receive the physical and emotional support that they need. The office will be open every Wednesday, with Drs. Goldschmidt and Rotche working together at this location.
