Biography

Dr. Suzan Merten attended the Medical University of South Carolina and obtained both her B.S. in biology/chemistry and her M.D. Dr. Merten completed her residency at the Medical College of Virginia in internal medicine in 1991 and completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology in 1994. Dr. Merten is board certified in medical oncology.

Dr. Merten has contributed to various publications and has a special interest in clinical research at Blue Ridge Cancer Care.  She is a member of the professional advisory board for the Carilion Breast Center and participates in weekly tumor boards with surgeons and other specialists. 

Dr. Merten and her husband, John, currently reside in Roanoke, Virginia with their four children.  She enjoys reading and exercising in her free time.
